About Dr. Bruce Nguyen OD

Dr. Bruce Nguyen is a highly-skilled optometrist with many years of experience in specialty contact lenses including Multifocal, RGP, Scleral, and Ortho-K Corneal Refractive Therapy contact lenses. His professional passion is myopia control and fitting scleral lenses for keratoconus patients. Prior to his optometric calling, Dr. Nguyen served in the U.S. Navy for 5 years, including a 2-years tour with the carrier USS Kitty Hawk homeported in Yokosuka, Japan. After his military service, he attended the University of California in Irvine and graduated magna cum laude in 2005. He earned his optometry degree at Southern California College of Optometry in 2011, graduating magna cum laude.

In 2012, he founded Clairemont Optometry in San Diego a premier myopia control optometric practice with the mission focus of providing the best eye care experience possible for his pediatric contact lens patients. In addition to his private practice, he serves as the myopia control clinic director at Optom-Eyes Vision Care Group, a multi-locations optometric organization with offices in Imperial Valley County and San Diego County. Utilizing different tools such as low-dose atropine eye drops, Ortho-K Corneal Refractive Therapy overnight contact lenses, MiSight dailies contact lenses, and specialty soft multifocal contact lenses, Dr. Nguyen strives for excellence every day in his quest for maintaining his patients’ eyesight from getting worse from one year to the next.

Dr. Nguyen takes great pride in and derives great pleasure from, doing his best in his chosen specialty, striving to provide all of his patients with excellent eye care, especially in the area of myopia control for young children. Dr. Nguyen belongs to the Scleral lens Education Society and Tear Film Ocular Surface Society. He is also an active member of the America Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control. In his spare time, he likes to listen to audiobooks, spends time with his family, and plays fetch with his German Shepherd.

ABOUT DR. RYAN MARR

Dr. Ryan Marr graduated from the University of California, Davis with his degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He continued his studies at the New England College of Optometry, graduating in 2022. During his optometry program, he enjoyed his time as a teaching assistant for clinical labs and treasurer of the American Optometric Student Association branch of his school. Through his optometric education, he trained in various optometric settings, such as community health, private practice, and veterans hospitals. Dr. Marr draws his experience from encounters with many demographics, ranging from infants to the elderly. His own journey as a patient, to working front and back office positions at other optometry practices, and his role as a Doctor of Optometry also contribute to his ability to provide high-quality, personalized care in treating and managing ocular disease. When he is not seeing patients, Dr. Marr enjoys finding the best places to eat and recommending it to those visiting San Diego. He also enjoys weight training, water polo, and gardening.
